Complete protection against rising funeral costs

It makes perfect sense to pay now and deal with the financial side of your funeral as it can save you a considerable amount of money in the long term. Why? Because you will pay at today’s price and not at tomorrow's or next year's prices. Consequently, pre paid plans have a major advantage over many other forms of providing funds for your funeral.

In 2005 the average price of a funeral was £1,965, where as in 2015 they stood at around £3,693 – a huge increase of 88%. With funeral costs increasing way above inflation, prices are expected to be £11,196 by 2031. It just common sense to freeze the cost of your funeral at todays prices.

During the first twelve months, if you have paid by way of Fixed Monthly Payments, the full benefit will only be paid in the event of accidental death (terms & conditions apply), otherwise 120% of the Fixed Monthly Payments you have paid will go to the appointed funeral director to be used as a contribution to the funeral costs and your Next of Kin will be required to meet any balance due.

Suppose I die before I have paid 12 months of Fixed Monthly Payments?

Can I have my own funeral director?

Yes you can as long as they have agreement in place with us and they meet our stringent service standards. Alternatively, we can recommend and appoint one on your behalf if you would prefer.

There are no age limits to acceptance if the plan is paid in full or over 12-60 monthly instalments. If the plan is purchased by low Fixed Monthly Payments, the plan holder must be between 50 and 75 years of age at the outset.

Am I guaranteed to be accepted?

Are there any extra costs?

The services of the Funeral Director are guaranteed to be covered – in accordance with the Terms and Conditions. Certain disbursements may require a further payment at the time of the funeral, but there is an allowance towards these costs that will increase in line with the Retail Price Index, if you choose to pay by way of lump sum or 12-60 monthly instalments, or 3% per annum, if the plan is being funded by Fixed Monthly Payments.

How do I know the money will be there when its needed?

If paying by way of lump sum or 12-60 monthly instalments, the money you’ve paid for your funeral is held securely in an independently managed Trust. Julius Bär and Quilter Cheviot are currently tasked to manage the long-term growth of the fund, specifically to meet the increasing cost of funeral services. If you have opted to pay by Fixed Monthly Payments, Golden Leaves will take out a whole of life policy with AXA Wealth Limited, trading as SunLife, to cover the costs of the funeral plan.
